You can consider carpet cleaning for dust mites a healthy endeavor.

Carpet Cleaning For Dust Mites can help people with allergies. Almost everyone is houseproud to some degree. Our homes literally are our castles. In this case, not only do we want our homes to be as clean and presentable to visitors as possible, but we expect our homes to be inherently safe places, ones free of any and all kinds of potential health and comfort hazards  The problem? It’s not just things like invisible food borne bacteria which we need to be weary of. Even the cleanest and well kept homes can be compromised by allergens such as invisible mold spores and dust mites. In fact, where the latter are concerned, our carpets especially can be literal breeding grounds for adverse health problems.  This is why cleaning for dust mites is so important.

Why Are Dust Mites Such A Big Problem?

Dust mites themselves are harmless. They are tiny arachnid related creatures which burrow into soft materials where at least 50% humidity is present. They then survive there by gorging on human dead skin cells. Of course, this sounds terrifying. However, it’s important to note that dust mites don’t bite. In fact, unless you have a microscope, most people will never even see one in their lifetime.

What does cause problems though, is dust mite excreta, discarded skin casings and dead dust mite carcasses. All of these after all, are picked up in the air in our homes and inhaled by human inhabitants on an almost daily basis.

Dust Mite Allergy Symptoms

Struggling to shift that cold which it feels like you’ve had forever? Are you an eczema or asthma sufferer already, but finding that your symptoms are steadily becoming worse? All humans are irritated by dust. Some of us though, are more irritated than others. Moreover, particularly sensitive people can show similar symptoms after exposure to dust, to people who suffer from severe pollen and animal allergies.

Happy Day Carpet Care offers Anti-Allergen Cleaning for dust mites and other allergens.

In either case, it’s important to attempt to limit exposure to dust wherever possible.  One of the best ways to do this is to reduce the amounts of dust mite excreta, discarded skin casings and dead dust mite carcasses.  It’s important to rid a home of dust mites themselves.  At Happy Day Carpet Care we offer an Anti-Allergen cleaning process, which includes, among other things, a special line of cleaning products and a spray of a product called Allergy Relief Treatment.  This process will typically cost about 75% more than typical carpet cleaning.  We can also offer our customers a special laundry additive that can be added to wash loads of bedding, pillow cases, etc.  This product is sold by the gallon.  The Allergy Relief Treatment process could benefit people with allergies for up to six months.

Here are some other steps and good ideas to perform in the process of cleaning for duct mites.

  1.  Wash bedding regularity at temperatures of 140 degrees Fahrenheit or more.
     2. Use a plastic mattress protector cover to reduce the quantity
     3. Don\’t make bed in Morning – Moisture, which dust mites love, can be reduced this way buy letting your bedding air out more thoroughly.
     4. Get rid of feather pillows.  Instead, use hyper-allergenic pillows that can be washed regularity at temperatures of 140 degrees Fahrenheit or more.
     5. Vacuum regularly with a vacuum that is truly a HEPA vacuum.  The vacuum should be able to trap particulates down to .3 microns.
     6. Control the temperature and humidity in your home or business.  Dust mites like temperatures that rang between 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit or 24-27 degrees Celsius the most.  Dust mites also like a relative humidity (RH) rang of 70-80 percent.  If you can keep the the temperature at 70 degrees Fahrenheit or lower and a relative humidity that is lower than dust mites like, you could make them less comfortable and even reduce the rate at which they reproduce.
      7. Keep pets out of the bed room where you spend a significant amount of time.  Reducing the areas in your home that pets have access to can be a great help.
      8. Get rid of curtains and soft furnishings and stuffed toys.  If it is not really going to work to keep all stuffed animals out of a bed room, you could on a regular basis, put the stuffed toy in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for at least 24 hours to kill dust mites.
      9. Use a steam cleaner(puts out a very hot steam) on carpets, curtains, cushions, kitchen and bathroom surfaces.  This can kill bacteria and dust mites.  This is a great natural, chemical-free way to clean your home.
      10. Regularly clean the areas in your home or business where dust regularity accumulates.  To do this, use a damp cloth or microfiber towel on surfaces. The cloth should be able to trap dust and not just spread it around as you are cleaning.
